Gallery Talk: Wolf Vostell’s Treblinka
February 28 @ 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
FreeJoin curatorial fellow Peter Murphy for a closer look at Wolf Vostell’s Treblinka (1967), a screenprint on paper that examines the circulation of photographs from Nazi death camps in film, television, and books. By adding vibrant colors to a historical image of women and children moments before their murder, Vostell challenges viewers to consider what it means when images of horrific tragedy become a form of popular media.
This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Wolf Vostell: Dé-coll/age Is Your Life (January 20–May 5, 2024).
Led by:
Peter Murphy, Stefan Engelhorn Curatorial Fellow in the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Division of Modern and Contemporary Art
