On Radical Modernism, “Photographism,” and Irving Penn

February 3 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

We are pleased to present an online panel discussion on the seminal photography and radical image-making of Irving Penn.

Panelists Grace Coddington, former Creative Director-at-large of Vogue, Jefferson Hack, Creative Director, Curator, and Co-founder of Dazed Media, and Antwaun Sargent, Writer, Editor and Curator, will delve into Penn’s legacy, career, and current exhibition, Irving Penn: Photographism, on view at our gallery in New York through February 18. Spanning from 1939 to the early 2000s, the works in the exhibition are accompanied by rarely seen archival materials and preparatory sketches, which articulate Irving Penn’s notion of “photographism.”

The conversation will be moderated by Mark Beasley, Curatorial Director at Pace.
