SUMMARY:Miriam Beerman: REDISCOVER – A Retrospective Remembering Miriam Beerman (1923-2022)
DESCRIPTION:Miriam Beerman – Rediscover Opens at James Yarosh Associates Gallery \nBeerman\, one of the first women to have a solo show at the Brooklyn Museum\, and who has had exhibitions worldwide\, is the 2022 artist in spotlight at James Yarosh Associates Fine Art Gallery \nHOLMDEL\, NJ—When acclaimed painter Miriam Beerman passed away in February 2022 at the age of 98\, she left a six-decade legacy of humanist expressionist works that are included in the permanent collections of over 60 museums\, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, Whitney\, LACMA\, Phillips Collection\, National Gallery of Art and Victoria & Albert Museum. \nA contemporary maker of painterly power objects\, imbuing the paint with profound psychology as well as colorful beauty\, Beerman was a female pioneer in the male-dominated artworld of the 20th century. \nFueled by curatorial activism in the recent years\, James Yarosh Associates has been hosting shows that re-examine artists who have made a substantial mark during their career in a climate where female artists of the era have been on the verge of being lost to history. On April 23 and 24\, the gallery launches Miriam Beerman – Rediscover\, a retrospective of this prolific artist that includes many of her larger works created in the 1990s. The show is open from noon to 4. \nWhile male peers dominated the world of 20th-century art\, Beerman’s unique artistic voice catapulted her work to critical recognition in museums and solo shows in her own right. In 1971\, she made history when her exhibition Enduring Beast became one of the first one-woman shows mounted by the Brooklyn Museum. \nShe has won awards from the Joan Mitchell Foundation\, Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Rhode Island School of Design. \nBeerman is the subject of the 53-minute artist documentary “Miriam Beerman: Expressing the Chaos\,” which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and YouTube and gives an unflinching look at an artist’s lifelong dedication to her craft. \n “Miriam Beerman is a survivor. In her more than 60 years as a groundbreaking artist\, she has overcome personal tragedy to inspire friends\, family\, peers\, patrons and students about how to remain defiant\, creative and strong\,” said Jonathan Gruber\, the film’s director. “Miriam has struggled with her artistic demons to create haunting images that evoke the suffering of generations of victims.” \nBeerman’s work has been compared to that of Goya. It protests injustice and champions the stories of victims—whether they are from Hiroshima\, Vietnam or the Holocaust. However\, it juxtaposes the anguish of her subjects with vibrant\, often ravishing\, use of color. Her painterly approach\, using layers over layers of color—akin to Jackson Pollock’s action paintings—allows a storyline to unfold on the canvas\, one that sometimes blends injustice with a nod to humor in the human condition. \n“I first saw Miriam Beerman’s art in 1991 at an exhibition at the State Museum in Trenton\, and it resonated with me as important\,” said Yarosh\, who has been representing her work since 2020. “As a younger artist\, I was inspired by how she could paint all those intangible feelings and emotions that haunt artists and sensitive minds. Thirty years later\, having rediscovered Miriam’s body of work as a gallery owner and to see the works that came after\, I am moved by the gravity and resonance of her art as a medium that can convey such human emotion—from humor to heartbreak—and ultimately still provide optimism. \n“Miriam’s colors are pure joy\, and her primal markings created larger-than-life paintings that sit next to you and resonate unlike other painters\,” Yarosh continued. “Her art may demand to be the focus in a room\, but the more time you devote to studying them\, you are rewarded by what they reveal and the empowering energy they radiate. Miriam’s subjects are intellectual—that of an activist as well as an environmentalist as evidenced by her series of animal paintings—and yet her power was in her ability to be fearless on canvas\, to somehow always spark magic.” \nCRITICAL ACCLAIM FOR MIRIAM BEERMAN: \nMiss Beerman would pass for a Neo-Expressionist were it not for her obvious sincerity and her skill … Yet it is her sincerity that often arouses ironic feelings in the viewer\, and the reason is partly that the artist plays it at full volume and partly that the horrors of daily life\, augmented by the mass media\, are draining away the reserves of compassion\, just as fluorocarbons are said to be destroying the ozone layer. — Vivien Rayner\, The New York Times: “ART; Imaginary Monsters That Dare a Visitor to See the Show.” \nMiriam Beerman’s work is part of the trajectory of humanist expressionism\, where painterly and gestural means are at the service of witness: man’s inhumanity to man\, as well as survival and redemption. —Alejandro Anreus\, Professor of Art History\, William Paterson University. \nABOUT MIRIAM BEERMAN: \nMiriam Beerman studied painting at the Rhode Island School for Design\, where she earned a BFA. Afterward\, she spent two years in France as a Fulbright Scholar\, working in Atelier 17 and having her painting critiqued by Marcel Brion. In New York\, she studied with Yasuo Kuniyoshi at the Art Students League and Adja Yunkers at the New School for Social Research. She has had over 30 solo shows\, including at the Brooklyn Museum\, the New Jersey State Museum and the Everson Museum. \nBeerman’s work can be seen in many major collections\, including Metropolitan Museum\, Whitney Museum\, LACMA\, National Gallery of Art\, Phillips Collection\, National Museum of Women in the Arts\, Victoria and Albert Museum\, and the Fitzwilliam Museum in England\,  the MEAM in Spain\, the Israel Museum and soon the National Portrait Gallery in Washington\, D.C. \n  \nABOUT JAMES YAROSH: \n\n\nEstablished in 1996\, the James Yarosh Associates Gallery in Holmdel\, New Jersey\, was founded upon and remains loyal to its vision: to represent fine art for art’s sake and to curate gallery collections and thoughtfully present art and interior design specification with an artist’s eye and understanding. Yarosh\, an artist and well- published interior designer\, offers a full-scale gallery and design center where clients can associate with other like-minded individuals located just one hour outside Manhattan. \nAs a designer\, Yarosh travels the world\, studying how the greatest museums display their art and visiting artists’ homes to understand how the artists themselves live with their art. This study on both a grand and small scale\, helps inform Yarosh’s work with his clients. His unique approach—coupled with his work in show houses and experience in large-scale residential design projects of over 20\,000 square feet—has led to his designs being featured in regional and international magazines. \nAs a gallerist\, Yarosh advocates  for what greatness looks like in the arts\, showcasing at his destination gallery the works of both new and established museum-recognized artists of merit in a space designed to replicate the intimacy of an artist’s home. Current exhibitions such as Miriam Beerman – Rediscover (2022)\, The Humanist Show (2021) Sheba Sharrow: History Repeats (2020) and the NYC art fair Art on Paper (2021) help foster the idea of art as intellectual engagements that sit above decoration in design hierarchy\, adding exponentially to the experience of living with art. \n\n\n  Save

SUMMARY:Alexander Stewart: Void Vision
DESCRIPTION:Alexander Stewart’s Void Vision is an abstract science-fiction short film in which the line between the real and the simulated are blurred and distorted; a space where doubles\, twins\, duplicates\, re-creations\, and copies merge. \nCombining a science-fiction sensibility with the aesthetic of early CGI animation experiments\, Stewart presents rotating arrangements of lasers and duplicated women that fade in and out\, appearing as both photographed scenes and computer-modeled recreations. The audio track\, incorporating text from Philip K. Dick’s 1981 novel Valis\, features an improvised electronic score and a voice articulating theories about the mind and the universe. \nAlexander Stewart: Void Vision is part of the Arts Center’s Ways of Being theme. The featured visual and performing artists recontextualize our past\, reorient our present\, and project new\, viable futures. Collectively they ask\, what if? \nhttps://www.jmkac.org/exhibition/alexander-stewart-void-vision/ \nImage: Alexander Stewart\, still from Void Vision\, 2018; 16mm as digital file; 7:45. SUMMARY:Melinda Stickney-Gibson & Gary Gissler
DESCRIPTION:ONIRICA: MELINDA STICKNEY-GIBSON & GARY GISSLER · \nJuly 15 – August 28\, 2022 \nCastello 925 \nFondamenta San’Isepo 780 \nSestiere Castello\, Venice IT \nOPENING RECEPTION: Friday\, 15 July\, 19:00 – 21:00 | 7-9pm. \nVenice\, Italy: Castello 925 presents Onirica\, a two-person exhibition of paintings and drawings by Melinda Stickney-Gibson and small works by Gary Gissler opening 15 July and running through 28 Aug\, 2022. \nOnirica\, an adjective that translates as “dream-like” in English\, is the uniting concept of the work of these two New York-based artists.  Melinda Stickney-Gibson artworks are sensitive meditations on the texture of memory as her lines and forms alternate between awareness and an oneiric state through flickering shadows of consciousness. As a visual poet\, Ms. Stickney-Gibson incorporates written words as suggestive notations\, while her lines and forms echo the trembling edges of nature. Gary Gissler’s microscopic/obsessive drawings on prepared panelsweave words in a meditative repetitive cycle that creates an undulating\, fragile pattern from seemingly asemic writing. This preoccupation with words as symbols representing meaning as well as the actual words created by the literal marks and forms themselves lends a delicate balance between representation and abstraction.  Like dreams\, both artists convey the poetry of symbol and substance; the dream\, seemingly irrational and random\, nevertheless relays a tale of universal mythic power of which these artists serve as oracles. \n About Melinda Stickney-Gibson \nMelinda Stickney-Gibson has been living and working in New York for over 30 years. She has had over 25 one-person exhibitions\, and has participated in numerous group shows throughout the country. Her work has been reviewed in ARTnews\, ARTS Magazine\, REVIEW Magazine\, Neoteric Art\, ARTNET\, and others. Ms. Stickney-Gibson’s work can be found in many public collections including the Neuberger Museum of Art\, The Dorsky Museum\, San Francisco Opera Plaza\, Tribeca Bridge Tower\, Triptych Films\, Los Angeles and other corporate and private collections. Melinda Stickney-Gibson has been a recipient of two Pollack Krasner Grants. \n About Gary Gissler \nGary Gissler is an American artist working in New York City and in the Catskills. Having exhibited widely\, Gissler has been the subject of many solo exhibitions and artists’ essays. He has been reviewed in Art in America\, Flash Art\, Art News\, The New Yorker\, ArtNet\, and others. Gary Gissler has a long history of being collected privately\, and his work is currently included at the RISD Museum and the Neuberger Museum. Gary Gissler has been awarded a Pollock Krasner Grant and a Chinati Foundation Artist Residency. \nO N I R I C A opens with a reception for the artists Friday\, July 15\, 2022 from 7pm – 9pm\, 19:00 – 21:00 (GMT + 1). SUMMARY:Artist Talk with Nancy Floyd
DESCRIPTION:Nancy Floyd is a photographic artist and Professor Emerita at Georgia State University. Her project\, Weathering Time\, consists of nearly four decades of anti-perfectionist self-portraits and is included in the Academy Art Museum’s current exhibition\, Fickle Mirror: Dialogues in Self-Portraiture. \n“…the photographs show\, in fractions of a second\, my body standing in an environment (mainly\, I’m by myself but sometimes I’m with family and friends) in a straightforward manner for the camera. As time passes\, births\, deaths\, celebrations\, and bad days come and go; all the while\, the American experience evolves.” \nFloyd will discuss this long-term project and its greater context\, which encompasses the human experience\, family ties\, American life\, and the persistence of time and change. \n  Save

SUMMARY:Julia C. Martin\, Roots
DESCRIPTION:STRATA GALLERY \nJulia C. Martin\, Roots\nAugust 23 – September 3rd\nReception: Friday\, August 26th\, 5-7PM \nStrata Gallery presents an Emerging Member solo exhibition\, Roots by Arizona based artist Julia C. Martin. The exhibition opens August 23rd\, with a special reception on August 26th from 5-7pm. \nJulia C. Martin’s work deals primarily with the topics of mortality\, ephemerality\, and time. She photographs in the land to explore these concepts. Roots will explore the body’s relationship to the earth and their tactile and intimate connection. \nMartin stated\, “I’m excited to be an Emerging Artist Member at Strata Gallery and to be a part of the Santa Fe art community. Having previously lived here\, I’ve always admired it. My work is about the relationship between the female body and the land. I’m interested in exploring how we perceive this connection and how the ephemeral nature of both the body and the land plays into the cycles of life\, death\, and rebirth. I work in a tactile manner and this exhibition will be just as much about the installation as it is about the images.” \nJulia C. Martin received her MFA in Photography from Arizona State University and her BA in Film & Photography from Montana State University. Her work has been exhibited and published nationally. She is currently based in Phoenix\, Arizona. This is her first solo show in New Mexico. \nStrata Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday. SUMMARY:Amanda Means at Jetsam Studio
DESCRIPTION:Opening reception and meet the artist:\nFriday\, August 26\, 5–7pm\nExhibition continues through September 30\, 2022 \nJHB Gallery is delighted to present its second exhibition of work by artist Amanda Means at Jetsam Studio\, Southampton\, Long Island. Following the artist’s 2021 presentation at the same venue\, this year’s exhibition will focus on examples of Means’ iconic Light Bulb works—including new digital lightbulbs—alongside Abstractions produced using the artist’s characteristic innovative darkroom processes. \nFor over forty years\, Amanda Means has created a body of work that has pushed the boundaries of the photographic medium with her celebrated Leaf\, Flower\, Water Glass\, Light Bulb\, and Abstraction series. Means has been a darkroom innovator throughout her career: adapting a 19th century camera for use as an enlarger\, photographing objects without the use of negatives\, working with a large-format Polaroid camera\, and creating a series of remarkable abstracts working only with light and photographic materials. The artist’s darkroom alchemy was cited by the Guggenheim Foundation in awarding Means their prestigious Fellowship in 2017 for her contribution to contemporary photography. \nOur exhibition will include examples from all phases of the artist’s career. Alongside key works from Means’ ongoing series in which the materials and chemistry of the darkroom are masterfully manipulated to create sumptuous Abstractions\, we will also be debuting new works from the artist’s Light Bulb series in archival pigment prints. \nAmanda Means has exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad\, and in 2021\, was honored with a career retrospective at University Art Gallery\, University of Massachusetts\, Dartmouth. The artist’s work is included in many public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art\, New York; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston; Philadelphia Museum of Art; The Nicola Erni Collection\, Switzerland; and National Museum of Photography\, Film and Television\, Bradford\, England. \n  Save

She combines photography\, sketches\, drawings\, paintings and found objects to create her mixed media artwork. She is fascinated with people and the urban environment. What may look like grunge to many\, she finds beauty therein. The exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nUnconscious Voyages by Elizabeth Caffery \n  \nElizabeth Caffery’s work reveals a story book assembly of images and often depicts the intermingling of opposing emotions–wounds versus triumphs\, human tragedies versus successes. Sometimes a happy\, optimistic piece will emerge. The process is not deliberated but evolves on its own\, changing direction where needed. When two parallel planes of thought like light and dark reach an equilibrium\, an understanding\, Elizabeth express this realization in the artwork. Elizabeth’s personal growth is reflected in her art. Gratitude for Life\, both the good and bad that life offers are her incentives that keep her art moving forward. \nElizabeth received a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on Studio Art in 1986\, from Randolph Macon College. \n  Save

SUMMARY:Artist talks: August/September exhibitions
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the August-September featured artists and their artwork at this informal artist talk.\nArtists include: Scott McCarney\, Margaret Buchanan\, and Carol Meese.\n\nScott McCarney presents photography and artists books in his exhibition\, Table to Wall. Artist books have been the main focus of McCarney’s art practice since 1980. He feels the book is the perfect form to combine his academic background in photography and design with his love for the “corporeality of craft and philosophic possibilities of sculpture.” He states\, “The interpretive space of the book and the interaction of a reader engage my interest in communication as process and form.”\n\nMcCarney’s decision to make artists books is for both practical and formal reasons: they are easy to transport\, access\, and share; their history is socially and culturally saturated; and everyone has some relationship with a book. According to McCarney\, “a book’s materiality and proximity to the reader offer a unique experience for expressing ideas quietly and with purpose.”\n\nMargaret Buchanan’s oil paintings will be displayed in her exhibition\, The Quiet. For Buchanan\, painting is “a place of agitation and excitement mixed with utter calm and joy.” Buchanan responds to composition\, light\, color\, space\, and texture\, and how those elements orchestrate our everyday moments. Her paintings suggest the presence of figures that do not appear in the composition\, referenced by a space where “someone is about to enter or has just left\, the liminal spaces between people\, the aftermath of human activity.” The Quiet articulates a dynamic space\, one that negotiates many states of being to create a sense of place.\n\nA book artist\, painter\, and designer\, Margaret Buchanan divides her working life between painting and her graphic design business\, Buchanan Design. She studied graphic design and painting at Virginia Commonwealth University\, in Richmond\, Virginia\, where she earned a BFA with honors.\n\nThe mystery of unspoken words\, unconscious thoughts\, and unheard prayers emerge in Carol Meese’s exhibition of paintings\, Prayer Books. Meese’s previous career in psychology provides her with an “understanding of what motivates others\,” how to relate on an emotional level\, and of the importance of the subconscious and unconscious helping (her) to communicate on a subliminal level. Saying things that have no words.”\n\nDuring our pandemic time was spent reading and thinking about solitude. Buried in these paintings are words from Theodore Rilke’s poem “Solitude.” and personal prayers. A pentimento effect is created with paint\, plaster\, ink and graphite. Thoughts about solitude are inscribed then obscured as if by smoke or fog or ignored thoughts or speech. The meaning is obscured\, left to the viewer to complete.\n\nArtist Talks: Saturday\, August 27\, 2pm\nExhibition Dates: August 26-September 17\, 2022 \n\n  Save

SUMMARY:Travelers: A Book Talk with Helon Habila & Matthew Davis
DESCRIPTION:Join Nigerian-born author Helon Habila and Matthew Davis\, Director of the George Mason University Alan Cheuse International Writers Center (ACIWC)\, for a conversation about Habila’s latest book Travelers. Travelers focuses on a Nigerian scholar who travels to Berlin with his American wife for a fellowship that entails creating a portrait series of African migrants. In a quest to document “real migrants\,” the book instead uncovers a multiplicity of narratives that make up the African diaspora. \nA spotlight tour of contemporary artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby’s self-portrait in the Museum’s Fickle Mirror exhibition will follow the talk. Born in Nigeria and relocating to the United States as a teenager\, Crosby creates work that addresses the complexities of culture clash and belonging through imagery referencing her dual Nigerian and American backgrounds. \n\n\n\n\nPresented in collaboration with Shore Lit. \n\n\n\n\n  Save

SUMMARY:Screens for Teens: Clueless
DESCRIPTION:This series of contemporary and classic films is specially curated for teenagers in and around Cambridge. The selection\, including both short and feature-length films\, is meant to provide teens with an opportunity to watch work focused explicitly on their experiences. Covering a range of topics\, emotions\, and nuances\, these free films—depending on length and scope—will be followed by conversation with faculty from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. \nAbout today’s film:\nClueless\, 1995 (Paramount Pictures; English; 97 min.) \nJane Austen might never have imagined that her 1816 novel Emma could be turned into a fresh and satirical look at ultra-rich teenagers in a Beverly Hills high school. Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and Dionne (Stacey Dash)\, both named after “great singers of the past that now do infomercials\,” are pampered upper-class girls who care less about getting good grades than wearing the right clothes and being as popular as possible. But Cher\, who lives with her tough yet warm-hearted lawyer dad (Dan Hedaya) and hunky\, sensitive stepbrother (Paul Rudd)\, also has an innate urge to help those less fortunate like the two introverted teachers she brings together (“negotiating” improved grades for herself in the process) and new friend Tai (Brittany Murphy)\, who starts out a geek and ends up a Cher prodigy. Cher also possesses her own sensitive side\, and she is looking for the perfect boyfriend\, whom she ends up finding where she least expected. \nFree admission\, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Reservations may be arranged by clicking on the event on this form beginning on Thursday\, September 1\, after 10am. \nThe screening will take place in Menschel Hall\, Lower Level. Doors will open at 1:30pm. \nPlease see the museum visit page to learn about our general policies for visiting the museums. \nThe Harvard Art Museums are committed to accessibility for all visitors. For anyone requiring accessibility accommodations for our programs\, please contact us at am_register@harvard.edu at least 48 hours in advance. \n  Save

SUMMARY:Art Talk Live: Yasuo Kuniyoshi’s Last Act
DESCRIPTION:Yasuo Kuniyoshi once proclaimed that “an artist’s drawings are his first words.” Having emigrated from Japan to the United States at the age of 16\, Kuniyoshi relied upon drawing as his most expressive medium. Through drawing\, he translated the anxiety\, disillusionment\, and alienation faced by Japanese émigrés in the aftermath of World War II into a uniquely personal and dynamic American modernist style. \nLed by:\nElisa Germán\, Emily Rauh Pulitzer Curatorial Fellow in Contemporary Drawings\, Division of Modern and Contemporary Art \nThis talk is part of a series inspired by ReFrame\, a museum-wide initiative to reimagine the function\, role\, and future of the university art museum. These talks examine difficult histories\, foreground untold stories\, and experiment with new approaches to the collections of the Harvard Art Museums\, reflecting the concerns of our world today. \nThis talk will take place online via Zoom. The event is free and open to all\, but registration is required. To register\, please complete this online form. \nPlease read these instructions on how to join a meeting on Zoom. For general questions about Art Talks\, email am_register@harvard.edu. \nArt Talks Live are presented via Zoom every other Tuesday at 12:30pm (ET) and offer an up-close look at works from our collections with our team of curators\, conservators\, fellows\, and graduate students. \nThe Harvard Art Museums are committed to accessibility for all visitors. For anyone requiring accessibility accommodations for our programs\, please contact us at am_register@harvard.edu at least 48 hours in advance. \nThe Harvard Art Museums are open to the public. SUMMARY:Gallery Talk: Dare to Know: Prints and Drawings in the Age of Enlightenment
DESCRIPTION:Join Margaret Morgan Grasselli for an in-depth discussion about the 18th-century invention of the multicolor\, multiplate printing technique that laid the foundation for today’s CMYK process. Grasselli will examine several examples of this technique on view in the special exhibition Dare to Know: Prints and Drawings in the Age of Enlightenment\, with particular focus given to Jacques-Fabien Gautier d’Agoty’s Muscles of the Back. \nFeaturing approximately 150 works on paper and other related objects\, Dare to Know explores how the graphic arts inspired\, shaped\, and gave immediacy to new ideas in the Enlightenment era by encouraging individuals to follow their own reason when seeking to know more. An illustrated catalogue with 26 thematic essays—an A to Z exploration of the Enlightenment quest for understanding and change—accompanies the exhibition. \nOur galleries are full of stories—this series of talks gives visitors a chance to hear the best ones! The talks highlight new works on view\, take a fresh look at old favorites\, investigate artists’ materials and techniques\, and reveal the latest discoveries by curators\, conservators\, fellows\, visiting artists\, technologists\, and other contributors. \nLed by:\nMargaret Morgan Grasselli\, Visiting Senior Scholar for Drawings \nGallery talks are limited to 18 people\, and it is required that you reserve your place. At 10am the day of the event\, reservations will open and may be arranged online through this form. The gallery talk reservation will also serve as your general museum reservation. This exhibition\, while not a retrospective\, it does involve all of Lee’s work from pedestal pieces (large in scale) to wall piece–all characterized by his career long exploration of primitive firing techniques. These surfaces include pit firing\, traditional raku\, saggar firing\, and horsehair raku. Unified by form and his approach to the creation of vessels\, the artwork exemplifies contemporary designs merging with primitive surfaces. \n  \nThe exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery. \n  \n  \n  \nDas Pferd (The Horse) by Heidi Nunnally \n  \nHeidi Nunnally’s photography focuses on nature\, land/seascapes\, and horses. From a sturdy Noriker mare and a dapple Icelandic to the sure-footed Irish Cobb and ancient white horses of the Camargue\, this exhibit allows one to set foot into the field\, pond\, or snow to experience wanderlust with the equine. \n  \nThis exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery. \n  \n  \n  \nTRAINS \n  \nTrains\, the exhibit at Art Works opens on September 23rd.  Virginia artists showcase artwork focusing on trains\, the tracks\, the stations\, everything train-like. She explores themes related to the historical struggle of women and the condition of exile\, as well as subjects such as ephemerality\, memory\, and ultimately the search for a language of transcendence. Triana’s body of work encompasses large-scale sculpture\, immersive installations\, photography\, and mixed media\, as well as painting and drawing. Curated by Aluna Curatorial Collective\, this long-overdue two-venue survey (at the Fairfield University Art Museum and the Art Museum at University of St. Joseph) spans work from the 1970s to the present. The work at Fairfield will focus on her early years in New York\, and her sense of exile and feelings of isolation. \nhttps://www.fairfield.edu/museum/gladystriana/ \n  Save
