DESCRIPTION:BRIAN DICKERSON | Constructed Paintings & Drawings is a solo exhibition of recent paintings and drawings by Brian Dickerson opening with a reception for the artist at Lightforms Gallery in Hudson\, NY. on July 15\, 2023\, 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Dickerson’s paintings are structured from aggregated surfaces\, rich with energetic brushwork\, that envelope built-in elements. The raised edges act as bridges\, buttresses and apertures that at once tip and balance as their silhouettes continuously change with the ambient light. Lengthening and shortening shadows invite meditation as the viewer dwells in the crevasses only to emerge again to travel nimbly between narrow ledges and mysterious angles. Though the paintings invite intimacy\, Dickerson also leads a visual journey as vast as deserts as he engages with eternal questions of space and being. \n  \nBrian Dickerson has had numerous solo exhibitions both internationally at Ballinglen Arts Foundation\,(Ballycastle\, Ireland) and nationally at Kouros Gallery and OK Harris (NYC\, NY)\, Institute of Man and Science (Rensselaerville\, NY)\, Bill Lowe Gallery (Atlanta\, GA)\, Benjamin Mangel Gallery\, Seraphin Gallery and Hahn Gallery (Philadelphia\, PA)\, The Grosvenor Art Gallery (S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill\, NY) and the Museum at the University of Wyoming\, (Laramie\, WY)\, among others. He has also been featured in many group exhibitions including the Delaware Art Museum\, American University Museum – Katzen Art Center (Wash. D.C.) the Woodmere Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts\, (Phila. PA). Dickerson has been the recipient of many awards notably a Franz and Virginia Bader Fund Grant and a Ballinglen Foundation Fellowship. DESCRIPTION:BLUE MOUNTAIN GALLERY is pleased to present the work of 40 artists selected by Pamela Salisbury for this year’s summer juried exhibition. The artists\, drawn from over four hundred applicants from across the country\, work in a wide range of media\, including oil\, acrylic\, pastel\, gouache\, photography and mixed media.The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue and will remain on view through July 29\, 2023. \n\n\nJuror PAMELA SALISBURY is the Owner/Director of Pamela Salisbury Gallery in Hudson\, New York\, which opened March 2020. The gallery shows contemporary painting\, sculpture\, and photography by emerging\, mid-career\, and highly established artists. The 2023 season will include exhibitions by over one dozen artists\, including Barbara Takenaga\, James Siena\, Elliott Green\, Lisa Corinne Davis\, and Judy Pfaff. The exhibition space includes two floors on Warren Street\, a sculpture courtyard\, and a historic four story Carriage House. DESCRIPTION:Join curator Elisa Germán for a closer look at a selection of artworks in the exhibition American Watercolors\, 1880–1990: Into the Light\, on view from May 20 to August 13\, 2023. Germán will share insights about the museums’ collection of American watercolors from the mid- to late 20th century\, focusing on a selection of drawings that reveal how this practice evolved into a new contemporary American medium. \nAmerican Watercolors\, 1880–1990 presents more than a hundred compelling and rarely seen watercolors by both well-known and historically underrepresented American artists selected from the Harvard Art Museums’ deep and diverse holdings. The event is free and open to the public. \nRecent Works by John Wagoner \nJohn Wagoner challenges the notion of what defines a painting by creating works of art that transition between painting and sculpture. Letting no paint go to waste he explores new ways to incorporate dried paints into his pieces. \n  \nThe exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery \n  \nThe Unseen by Jasmine Mills \nAs an artist\, Jasmine Mills enjoys bringing her thoughts and ideas into the physical world and merging the Unseen into Seen. She creates abstract art based on perceptions and thoughts on overcoming demons\, healing\, societies struggles\, and cultural influences throughout her Life. \n  \nThe exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nSilver Lining by Adam Reinhard \nAfter six years spent buried under the noise of Washington D.C.\, Adam Reinhard returned to the Blue Ridge Mountains where he feels that he can finally hear\, breathe\, and see again.  And there is so much to see. Reinhard is convinced that there are secret colors only to be found where those ancient crusts rise up and out of the Shenandoah valley. Working under the restraints of shifting light\, cold\, and heat has served as Reinhard’s inspiration. Whether it’s the siding of a dilapidated barn\, ribbons of water working their way down a stream bed\, or endless rows of corn in patchwork farms\, he finds that it is often the boldest strokes\, reacting to the quickly changing environment\, which portray the truth as he sees it. This exhibit will be in the Port Gallery. \nJune 2023 ALL MEDIA ART SHOW  \nThis exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes for 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place. DESCRIPTION:BLUE MOUNTAIN GALLERY is pleased to present the work of 40 artists selected by Pamela Salisbury for this year’s summer juried exhibition. The artists\, drawn from over four hundred applicants from across the country\, work in a wide range of media\, including oil\, acrylic\, pastel\, gouache\, photography and mixed media.The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue and will remain on view through July 29\, 2023. \n\n\nJuror PAMELA SALISBURY is the Owner/Director of Pamela Salisbury Gallery in Hudson\, New York\, which opened March 2020. The gallery shows contemporary painting\, sculpture\, and photography by emerging\, mid-career\, and highly established artists. The 2023 season will include exhibitions by over one dozen artists\, including Barbara Takenaga\, James Siena\, Elliott Green\, Lisa Corinne Davis\, and Judy Pfaff. The exhibition space includes two floors on Warren Street\, a sculpture courtyard\, and a historic four story Carriage House. SUMMARY:Timothy Schmitz & Michael Schultheis
DESCRIPTION:Winston Wächter Fine Art\, New York is pleased to announce an exhibition of mixed media artworks by Timothy Schmitz and bronze sculptures and paintings by Michael Schultheis. Timothy Schmitz’s works are meditative in nature using color gradients to draw light into the center of the pieces. Michael Schultheis’ sculptures are a graceful dialogue between two stories finding harmony in the meeting point. The luring colors and fluid motion used by both artists are a captivating display of elegance. \nTimothy Schmitz is a Minneapolis based artist who has created a process that is uniquely his own. He starts with a digital composition that is processed through different software programs. After multiple variations\, the digital image is printed and physically manipulated with materials such as emulsions and resin. The result being a seamlessly constructed object that dances on the line of painting and sculpture. Timothy Schmitz finds inspiration for his soft color palette from when he lived in Santa Fe\, New Mexico.  Each work illuminates from the inside radiating the warmth of a sunset. suffuse code 6466\, 2023 begins with a gentle violet color\, diffused across the surface of the work\, settling into a warm pink and orange hue at the bottom. The artist admires the strength found in gentleness and aims to embed that into his work. \nMichael Schultheis is a Seattle based artist. In his practice called Analytical Expressionism\, the artist uses layers of mathematical equations to demonstrate how they can be used as a lens to view and understand human connections.  By using a geometric model that he calls the SoulMate Model\, the artist explores how two people find each other and what it looks like when they start to orbit around one another.  His Venn sculptures\, act as the three dimensional rendering of the brushstrokes found in his paintings. Using the lost-wax casting process of antiquity\, he creates simple\, elegant forms based on a geometric polar curve called a limaçon. Venn Fidelities Coupling stands 8 feet tall\, cast in bronze with a slightly hammered texture which captures the sunlight within the groves. The momentous sculpture is one seamless line that forms a vertical venn diagram set on a pedestal. The middle joins together in an embrace of both circles. These works are a window into the mathematical language of geometric form that Schultheis speaks\, inviting the viewer into a world of numbers and equations. \n  Save

DESCRIPTION:Pleiades Gallery presents “Color Burst”\, an exhibit of Joyce Weidenaar’s paintings and prints. The show runs from June 13 through July 8. The Artist Reception will take place on Saturday\, June 17 from 3-6 pm. On Saturday\, July 8 from 3-6 pm there will be ballroom dancing in the gallery. \nWeidenaar’s paintings typically depict everyday subjects that often go largely unnoticed. It is the focus on those objects\, front and center\, which heightens the viewer’s awareness and appreciation. Their shapes are inherently interesting and the works are often brightly colored. Recent subjects include calla lilies\, a display of fans\, and the window of a cowboy hat store. Close up\, or with unusual perspective\, these paintings take on abstract qualities as well. While the objects in Weidenaar’s paintings are realistically rendered\, her monoprints are abstract and emphasize rich textures. \nPleiades Gallery is located at 547 West 27th Street\, Suite 304.
