SUMMARY:CORRUGATED
DESCRIPTION:CORRUGATED\, a group show featuring work by Michael Ballou\, Mara Clawson\, Joe Diggs\, Adrian Frost\, Wendy Klemperer. Henry Klimowicz. Lowell Miller. Susanna Ronner and Christy Rupp opens with a reception for the artists on Sunday July 27\, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Opus 40 in Saugerties\, NY. \nCardboard\, often overlooked\, is a versatile medium for artists and designers. Its accessibility and low cost encourage innovation and experimentation. In an era where sustainability is paramount\, cardboard provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional materials\, allowing artists to create innovative artworks while minimizing their environmental impact. The lightweight nature of cardboard allows for easy manipulation and transport\, while its recyclability makes it an ideal choice for sustainable art practices. By transforming waste into art\, creators not only challenge consumer culture but also inspire others to reconsider their relationship with materials.  The artists in this exhibition independently explore color\, shape\, and form\, demonstrating that beauty and ingenuity can emerge from simplicity.  Ultimately\, art made from cardboard reflects the power in the mundane\, inviting us to rethink our relationship with consumer culture\, challenge perceptions of value\, and encourage a shift toward more sustainable practices.

SUMMARY:LYNNE TOBIN | Line Studies
DESCRIPTION:Lynne Tobin’s solo exhibition\, Line Studies\, challenges the traditional boundaries between drawing\, textile arts\, and installation. With threads and rope saturated in black ink\, Tobin creates sculptural forms and spaces on the two dimensions of white paper\, deftly balancing on the cusp of controlled execution and unrestrained creativity. Drawing inspiration from simple materials\, everyday rituals\, and meditation practice\, Tobin’s black-and-white drawings explore rhythm and movement while evoking a sense of stillness and contemplative intimacy. A version of this special solo exhibition was recently in Venice\, Italy\, during the 60th Venice Biennale. \nAbout the Artist: Lynne Tobin is a mixed-media artist living and working in the Hudson Valley\, New York. Her art practice explores the language of drawing through the use of thread\, string\, and ink\, producing both large-scale and intimate works on paper. Tobin’s abstract ink drawings have been in exhibitions throughout the Northeastern United States\, and in 2024\, her Line Studies were recently presented in a solo show in Venice\, Italy. \nAbout North River Electric House: A beautiful demonstration of carbon-neutral living\, Electric House is a regional hub for community gatherings\, coworking\, public and private events\, and education. The space was thoughtfully designed and built by North River\, an architecture and design-build firm leading the push for all-electric\, net-zero living in the Hudson Valley. \nEVENT: Lynne Tobin | Line Studies  \nVENUE: North River Electric House \n3560 Main Street · Stone Ridge\, New York · 12484 \nEXHIBITION DATES: 17 July – 13 September\, 2025 \nOpening Reception: Friday\, July 18\, 2025 | 5:00 – 8:00 PM \nHours during Upstate Art Weekend (Map #94)\n \nThursday & Friday\, July 17\,18 · 5:00 – 8:00 PM \nSaturday & Sunday\, July 19\, 20 · 10:00 – 3:00 PM \nRegular hours: Mon – Fri · 10:00 – 6:00.  Weekends by appointment: 845-399-9751

SUMMARY:FOREST BATHING | A Group Exhibition about Nature
DESCRIPTION:FOREST BATHING |  A Group Exhibition about Nature \nCurated by Jen Dragon \nJune 13 – July 21\, 2025 \nGallery Hours: Friday – Monday: 10:00 – 5:00 PM \nExhibition Reception: June 15\, 3:00 – 5:00 PM \nEXHIBITION WEBPAGE \n(Saugerties\, NY)—Opus 40 Gallery presents Forest Bathing\, a group exhibition that explores the profound connection between art and the healing power of the natural world. Opening with a reception for the artists on Sunday\, June 15th\, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM\, this exhibition offers a much-needed breath of fresh air for the soul. \nInspired by the Japanese concept of Shinrin-Yoku\, or “Forest Bathing\,” this exhibition delves into mindfully immersing ourselves in the woodlands’ sights\, sounds\, smells\, and textures. Originating in the 1980s as a gentle antidote to the increasing pace of technological life\, Forest Bathing is prescribed by Japanese physicians as a way to calm stressed nerves\, ease pain\, and nurture the spirit. \n“In a world that often feels overwhelming and disconnected\, the simple act of being in nature can be incredibly restorative\,” says exhibition curator\, Jen Dragon. “This exhibition on the grounds of Opus 40 celebrates that connection\, showcasing how six contemporary artists independently find inspiration and solace in the woodlands.” \nThis group exhibition features the work of Katie DeGroot\, Gabriella Kirby\, Anne Leith\, Robin McClintock\, Laura Von Rosk\, Martin Weinstein and Dion Yannatos. While their approaches vary\, the woodlands serve as a powerful touchstone\, resulting in a diverse and compelling collection of paintings that resonate with the beauty and complexity of nature. A version of this show premiered in Venice\, Italy\, during the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024. \nForest Bathing opens with a reception for the artists on Sunday\, June 15th\, from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. The exhibition will be on view through Monday\, July 21st\, 2025.

SUMMARY:CUSP | Brian Dickerson · Melinda Stickney-Gibson · Millicent Young
DESCRIPTION:CUSP | Brian Dickerson\, Melinda Stickney-Gibson + Millicent Young \nTHE HYDE COLLECTION \n161 Warren Street \nGlens Falls\, New York\, 12801 \nGallery Hours: Thursday – Sunday: 10 am – 5 pm \nEXHIBITION DATES: January 25 – March 30\, 2025 \nConversation with the artists · Sunday\, January 26\, 2025\, 1:00 PM \n(Glens Falls\, NY ) – The art exhibition Cusp presents three contemporary artists whose work in different media hover between the known and the unknowable. Their artworks constantly change as paintings transform into sculptures\, works on paper evoke memories\, and a three-dimensional installation recites poetry. These artworks never quite settle into any realm but exist in an ever-shifting environment. Cusp opens at The Hyde Collection on Saturday\, January 25\, and continues through March 30\, 2025.  The artists will converse with curator Jen Dragon on Sunday\, January 26\, at 11:00 AM. \nTHE THREE ARTISTS \nBrian Dickerson‘s paintings are structured from built-up surfaces\, rich with energetic brushwork enveloping angular\, constructed elements. As the sculpted paintings interact with light\, the edges and openings change in endlessly shifting topographies. \nMelinda Stickney-Gibson‘s delicate drawings\, paintings\, and sculptures meditate on memory. Cryptic phrases\, trembling lines\, and blurred forms emerge through glowing layers of wax\, paper\, and paint\, much as conscious thought morphs into spontaneous imagination before sleep. \nMillicent Young’s hair\, wood\, and clay installations create contemplative spaces for reflecting on personal and collective loss. Drawing on humble materials\, Young weaves\, sculpts\, and scribes metaphors drawn from ancient archetypes while sounding an alarm for a fragile future. \nAs visual poets\, Dickerson\, Stickney-Gibson\, and Young capture the transformation from what is seen to what is felt. The artists invite us to tolerate the unknown\, opening portals between the concrete and the intuitive worlds.

SUMMARY:BRUCE CAHN
DESCRIPTION:Castello 925 presents the watercolors\, gouaches and works on paper of the late New York artist Bruce Cahn. Cahn’s work is known not only for his accomplished techniques\, but also for its powerful symbolic imagery. These artworks range from realistic depictions of the human form in all of the varieties of ages\, shapes and colors to elegant abstract mandalas that chart a private\, spiritual journey.   \nA prolific yet reclusive artist\, Cahn’s art practice was both obsessive and spiritual\, working tirelessly in the belief that visual perfection would prepare him for his next life. This exhibition of works on paper by Bruce Cahn is aligned with the theme of the 60th Venice Biennale\, Foreigners Everywhere\, in that Cahn’s work shifts in perspective from the human form to the inner spirit much as a foreigner journeys to the lands’ edge. As a foreigner in his own body\, Bruce Cahn spiritually transcended at the end of his life through his art practice.  \nAbout Bruce Cahn: \nBorn in the Bronx\, Bruce Cahn led an eccentric\, solitary life driven by an all-consuming desire to absorb himself into an ongoing creative process. The son of a prominent New York City caterer\, Cahn spent his childhood comfortable but socially disinterested\, preferring to spend time sculpting and drawing. After his graduation from Horace Mann High School\, Cahn studied with sculptor Harvey Fite at Bard College and then with José Mariano de Creeft at the Rhode Island School of Design. A life-time member of the Arts Student League in New York City\, Bruce Cahn worked obsessively in his small apartment/studio and later\, in his Woodstock\, New York cottage. Apart from a solo exhibit at the Horace Mann Fisher Gallery\, Bruce Cahn avoided showing his artworks so as not to be distracted from his intensive art practice. This special solo exhibition at Castello 925 is the first time these works on paper by Bruce Cahn have ever been exhibited.

SUMMARY:Millicent Young | Il Viaggio
DESCRIPTION:Millicent Young‘s sculptures convey the fragmentation that arises from our contemporary condition. The works respond to specific events of breakdown: the collapsing biosphere\, war\, displacement\, and the loss of language\, place\, and relationship. Young meets these events as matters of the soul – where collective history and personal story become conjoined. In her use of humble materials\, Millicent Young castes lyrical abstractions as timeless artifacts. With wood\, horsehair and repurposed metal\, Young conveys the story of the human journey from the known to the unknown and her work reveals an ethos of care forming the possibility of healing. \nThis special solo installation in the Castello 925 Project space will close with a finissage reception on Sunday\, September 8\, 18:00 – 20:00.

SUMMARY:LYNNE TOBIN
DESCRIPTION:Castello 925 presents works on paper by Lynne Tobin. The exhibition opens 8 August and runs through 8 September\, 2024 with an opening reception on Saturday\, August 10\, 2024 from 5 – 7pm and a finissage with the artist in attendance on Sunday\, September 8\, 2024 from 6 – 8 PM. \nWith string and Sumi ink\, Lynne Tobin’s black and white drawings explore mark-making inherent in textures and expressed by gesture. Spontaneous marks made by threads and rope saturated in ink are in contrast to her careful linear repeating patterns.Tobin’s immediate world\, every-day rituals\, and meditation practice inspire the rhythms in her work. \nAbout the Artist: Lynne Tobin is a mixed-media artist who lives and works in New York State’s Hudson Valley region. Previously\, Tobin maintained a studio and exhibited extensively in the Providence\, RI area including the Chazen Gallery\, The Krause Gallery\, The Mill Gallery (Pawtucket\, R.I.) and the New Bedford Art Museum (New Bedford\, MA). Recently\, she was in a two-person exhibition together with Millicent Young at Castello 925. This current solo show at Castello 925’s other venue at 780 is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Venice. \nAbout CASTELLO 925: \nCastello 925 is a multi-disciplinary\, non-profit gallery which serves as a works that were built elsewhere\, yet also a space where new ideas and new co-operations come to life. Castello 925 provides room to live and breathe — not just for exhibitions\, but support for the everyday life of an artist\, the quietude of  a writer’s research\, or the exchange between passionate art-seekers and collectors.crucible for the visual arts\, literature and culture. Founder Luca Caldironi envisioned a space dedicated to creativity\, or rather cre-activity. Castello 925 is a gallery with two venues: one at 925 and the other at 780\, where experimental expressions of all kinds come to meet\, collaborate\, improvise\, produce and construct; a place to present “finished” works that were built elsewhere\, yet also a space where new ideas and new co-operations come to life. Castello 925 provides room to live and breathe — not just for exhibitions\, but support for the everyday life of an artist\, the quietude of  a writer’s research\, or the exchange between passionate art-seekers and collectors.

SUMMARY:FRED DUIGNAN | Transcending Chaos
DESCRIPTION:Cross Contemporary Art Projects presents the paintings of the late New York artist Fred Duignan\, curated by Sara Lynn Henry at Castello 925 in Venice\, Italy. Duignan’s work is known not only for its variety of textures\, washes and techniques\, but also for its powerful abstract imagery. The paintings in this exhibit represent the last few years of work after receiving his diagnosis.  According to the curator\, Sara Lynn Henry\, ” (The artist)… started as a player in the 1980s East Village\, NYC\, when art burst forth as direct\, unruly\, naïve seeming\, getting at raw personal matters of process and reality\, accessing the unconscious as well as conscious intensities. For his process\, Duignan took a collaborative role with paint itself\, allowing it to flow\, skein\, drip\, puddle\, considering it to be an “animal\, fiery with purpose…ignoring all rules\, unafraid\,” consequently imbuing his works with an insistent energy.” \nAbout Frederick Duignan: \nBorn June 1\, 1952 in Jersey City\, NJ\, Frederick Duignan attended St. Mary’s in Rutherford\, NJ\, then studied at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer\, Indiana; the duCret Center of Art\, Plainfield\, NJ; and obtained a BA in Fine Art and graduate certificate from University of California\, Santa Cruz.  Over the years he worked as a Curator of Contemporary Art at the Paterson Museum\, an art critic\, and always as a master artist/poet.

SUMMARY:I Foresti | Anne Leith\, Robin McClintock\, Martin Weinstein & Millicent Young
DESCRIPTION:As there are no forests in Venice\, the Venetian dialect phrase for “foreigner” is “foresti” or “someone from the forest”. I Foresti\, a group exhibition at Castello 925\, plays on that vernacular expression as these American artists are not only foreigners to Venice but are inspired by the materials and rich textures of the forest. I Foresti explores the meanings of the Venetian phrase “foresti” as surveyors of the sensory experience of nature (Weinstein and Leith)\, or purveyors of the rhythms of its hidden life forms (McClintock) or a cartographer of the foreigner’s journey (Young). Together\, these artists convey the experience of the forest and the foreigner as inspiration\, destination and refuge to the city of Venice in tandem with the theme of the 60th Biennale “Strangers Everywhere“. Website: https://bit.ly/foresti24 \nAbout the Artists:\nAnne Leith: Anne Leith is a painter of places\, both observed and oneiric. The\nlandscape is integral to her practice and the personal immersion into a greater whole is\nher over-arching aesthetic. \nRobin McClintock: Robin McClintock\, a native New Yorker\, who moved to rural West\nVirginia half-way through her career\, conjures from that dichotomy intricate\, elegant yet\nheavily wrought works on paper that weave the chaos of spatial memory\, vestigial\nindustrial architecture\, and nature into an uncanny personal order. \nMartin Weinstein: Martin Weinstein builds layers of perception from painted acrylic\nlayers with each combining to describe a whole. These paintings\, rooted in the\nlandscape tradition\, represent perpetually shifting perceptions that evolve into personal\nrecords of space\, being and memory. \nMillicent Young: In her use of humble materials\, Millicent Young castes lyrical\nabstractions as timeless artifacts. With wood\, horsehair and repurposed metal\, Young\nconveys the story of the human journey from the known to the unknown. \nI Foresti opens with a reception for the artists Friday\, April 19\, 5 -8pm at Castello 925\, Fondamenta San Giuseppe\, Sestiere Castello 925 and 780\, 30122 Venice\, Italy and runs through Sunday\, June 23\, 2024.

SUMMARY:Kaethe Kauffman | La Foresta
DESCRIPTION:KAETHE KAUFFMAN | LA FORESTA\nOpening Reception: Friday\, April 19\, 2024  5:00 – 8:00 PM\nKaethe Kauffman meditates on the unseen systems of forest growth as well as on\nmemories of the calm\, steady presence of individual trees throughout her life. Her most\nrecent series of prints on paper and silk not only explore the individuality and spirit of\ntrees combined with the physical movement of walking through nature but then\ncaptures this sensation with the meditative movements of drawing. These artworks\, in\nturn\, are transformed into prints on silk banners and on paper mounted onto wood\npanels. The lightweight fabric installations act as thin veils of consciousness. The\ninstallation of 20 prints mounted onto woodblocks re-combine into a larger mural until\nthe image of individual trees is subsumed into a collective vision. \nAbout the Artist:\nKaethe Kauffman was born in Cheverly\, Maryland and grew up in Seattle.\nA long-time practitioner of yoga and body movement\, Kaethe Kauffman has been the\nsubject of solo exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad including the\nRensselaer Newman Foundation\, Troy\, NY; Allen Gallery\, Memphis\, TN; Lichtundfire\nGallery and Walter Wickiser Gallery in NYC\, NY; Joyce Goldstein Gallery\, Chatham\, NY;\nBanco Gallery\, Bethlehem\, PA; University of Nebraska\, Omaha; Berry College\, Mount\nBerry\, GA; Czech Museum of Fine Arts\, Prague; the Sierra Arts Foundation Gallery\,Reno\, NV and Castello 925\, Venice\, IT on the occasion of the 59th Venice Biennale.

SUMMARY:SHINY OBJECTS | Elynne Allenson\, Anne Leith & Kathleen Spicer
DESCRIPTION:SHINY OBJECTS presents paintings by Anne Leith and Elynne Rosenfeld together with wall sculpture by Kathleen Spicer. These three colleagues\, all members of InLiquid and Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists\, have exhibited extensively together. Inspired by the natural world\, all three artists incorporate ambient light to produce the shifting element of shine. Leith applies gold\, copper and silver leaf in her plein air oil paintings while Rosenfeld incorporates shattered tempered glass and beads together into her iridescent artworks and Spicer’s wall sculptures employs metallic paint allowing light to skip over her curved surfaces.\nThis most recent incarnation of SHINY OBJECTS will be on exhibit at the Baby Grand Gallery of The Grand Opera House \, 818 North Market Street\, Wilmington\, 19801 from March 1 – April 1 2024\nwith an opening reception from 5:00 -7:00 pm on Friday March 1. SUMMARY:Streaming: Sculpture by Christy Rupp
DESCRIPTION:Understood as one of the early pioneers in the field of ecological art activism\, the artist\, activist and thought-leader Christy Rupp has an international reputation. Streaming will feature a survey of Rupp’s intricate collages\, wall installations and free-standing sculpture\, which chronicle the ongoing tension between natural systems and the environment in transition\, and call our attention to our interconnectedness with non-humans and habitat – transmuting detritus gathered from the waste stream through collage and sculpture to reveal what is hidden away from common view and understanding. Informed by science and the historical representation of natural history\, the artwork in this exhibition examines the way we frame our opinions of nature\, using irony and wit to represent the human impact on our natural habitat. This exhibition in the Walsh Gallery located at Fairfield University opens Thursday\, January 18th and runs through Saturday\, April 27th\, 2024.

SUMMARY:Loy Luo: Secrets
DESCRIPTION:In the current solo exhibition at the Mazlish Gallery\, the soulful paintings of Loy Luo evoke timeless songs with unknown origins and infinite possibilities. The abstract artworks have the depth and strength of stone combined with the weightlessness of air and space. The alternating erasure and endurance of her mark making\, the piercing luminosity of her colors and the powerful scale of the artworks are all infused by Luo with a lightness of being. The artist\, also an accomplished musician\, infuses a musicality in her work with notations and lyics that shimmer through all of her surfaces like a half-remembered melody.  \nLoy Luo’s solo exhibition of paintings at the Mazlish Gallery continues through November 28\, 2023.

SUMMARY:MILLICENT YOUNG | Alter Altar
DESCRIPTION:Alter Altar is a solo exhibition of sculptures and site-specific installations by Millicent Young.  The exhibit includes seventeen works fabricated over 20 years and installed in two historic barn buildings in Stone Ridge\, New York. These artworks range from loft-filling installations embedded with motion-activated sound to smaller-scaled wall-mounted works that respond to the hand-hewn quality of the vernacular spaces. Young’s work draws on the power of simple materials such as clay\, horsehair\, sticks\, metal and rope to weave\, thread\, stitch\, join\, forge\, hammer\, sculpt\, bind\, and scribe the surrounding environment with a clarity and austerity that elevates the common and creates space for being. The exhibition was reviewed by Nina Chkareuli-Mdivani and published on October 13\, 2023. \nWork included in this exhibition was supported with an Individual Artist grant from the State Council on the Arts/Arts Mid Hudson.

SUMMARY:ROB MANGO | Eterno Ritorno
DESCRIPTION:Robert Mango paints in luminous\, celebratory colors with hand-crafted metallic accents\, enabling his muses to glow and shine. He references the history of art in his kaleidoscopic melding of genres – abstraction\, realism\, symbolism\, and surrealism. Installed together\, these freewheeling paintings describe a new era of the Baroque with deconstructed mathematics combined with visibly shifting forms that give way to a colorful ecstasy of vibrant pigments and powerful poetics. \nGiven the sensual\, carnivalesque\, and Baroque tradition that weaves throughout Rob Mango’s artwork\, it is appropriate that the artist’s first exhibition outside the United States is held in Venice\, Italy in affiliation with the Venice Biennale.  Robert Mango | Eterno Ritorno opens 15 September with a reception for the artist on Sat. Sept 16\, 6:30 – 8:30pm at Castello 925\, Venice\, Italy through November 27\, 2023.

SUMMARY:MARTIN WEINSTEIN - Inside | Outside
DESCRIPTION:Castello 925 presents a solo exhibition of paintings  by Martin Weinstein in the Castello 780 gallery starting on September 16  and running through November 26\, 2023. The exhibition\, entitled Inside | Outside\, considers the layers of space that range from the interior of a room to the wide expanse of the landscape beyond. By working on several sheets of acrylic\, Weinstein isolates these different distances with deft\, gestural brushwork. It is the manipulation of these layers and the ability to “reshuffle” each of them one in front of another that creates confusion as to what is near and what is far away. These layers are in turn encased in a clear\, acrylic box that allows the ambient light to shift and change the colors of paintings while glowing through one another. These sculptural\, illuminated painting boxes act as containers that hold a period of time as well as an ever-changing kaleidoscope of space.

SUMMARY:BRIAN DICKERSON | Constructed Paintings & Drawings
DESCRIPTION:BRIAN DICKERSON | Constructed Paintings & Drawings is a solo exhibition of recent paintings and drawings by Brian Dickerson opening with a reception for the artist at Lightforms Gallery in Hudson\, NY. on July 15\, 2023\, 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Dickerson’s paintings are structured from aggregated surfaces\, rich with energetic brushwork\, that envelope built-in elements. The raised edges act as bridges\, buttresses and apertures that at once tip and balance as their silhouettes continuously change with the ambient light. Lengthening and shortening shadows invite meditation as the viewer dwells in the crevasses only to emerge again to travel nimbly between narrow ledges and mysterious angles. Though the paintings invite intimacy\, Dickerson also leads a visual journey as vast as deserts as he engages with eternal questions of space and being. \n  \nBrian Dickerson has had numerous solo exhibitions both internationally at Ballinglen Arts Foundation\,(Ballycastle\, Ireland) and nationally at Kouros Gallery and OK Harris (NYC\, NY)\, Institute of Man and Science (Rensselaerville\, NY)\, Bill Lowe Gallery (Atlanta\, GA)\, Benjamin Mangel Gallery\, Seraphin Gallery and Hahn Gallery (Philadelphia\, PA)\, The Grosvenor Art Gallery (S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill\, NY) and the Museum at the University of Wyoming\, (Laramie\, WY)\, among others. He has also been featured in many group exhibitions including the Delaware Art Museum\, American University Museum – Katzen Art Center (Wash. D.C.) the Woodmere Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts\, (Phila. PA). Dickerson has been the recipient of many awards notably a Franz and Virginia Bader Fund Grant and a Ballinglen Foundation Fellowship. Brian Dickerson has an upcoming 2023 solo exhibition at Lightforms (Hudson. N.Y.) and abroad in Hertogenbosch\, Netherlands (May 24 – June 20\, 2023).

SUMMARY:Binnen of Buiten – de Betekenis van Grenzen en Begrenzingen (“(With)in or (With)out – The Significances of Borders and Boundaries”)
DESCRIPTION:From May 27 to June 20\, the art space of the Milk Factory presents a group exhibition titled “(With)in or (With)out – The Significances of Borders and Boundaries” with a work by Brian Dickerson. Dickerson’s painting “Vroman” is structured from aggregated surfaces\, rich with energetic brushwork\, that envelope built-in elements. These constructed ridges create sharp shadows that change as the viewer’s gaze shifts from left to right\, and from up to down. Though the paintings invite intimacy\, Dickerson’s painting also spearheads a journey as vast as deserts as he engages with eternal questions of space and being.\n\n\nThe group exhibition in De Melkfabriek\, ‘s-Hertogenbosch\, ‘Binnen or Buiten – Boundaries and Limitations’\, explores the boundaries of society from the artist’s point of view.\n\n\n“We are on our way\, yes\, but everywhere we collide with boundaries: Boundaries set by others: physical\, with customs control\, high fences or sometimes even with landmines. Or we collide with limits in norms and morals. And\, sooner or later we come up against limits that our body or mind encounters.”\n\n\nEighteen artists from eight countries show their vision in image or word. In addition to background and visual material by the artists\, the accompanying book contains essays by 5 authors who approach the theme in different ways.\n\n\nThis exhibition can be visited free of charge between 13:00 and 17:00 in De Melkfabriek at Guldenvliesstraat 4H\, 5211 AM in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.\nVernissage: May 27\, 2-5 p.m.

SUMMARY:FORD CRULL | Lost Horizons
DESCRIPTION:Ford Crull’s solo exhibition Lost Horizons opens Thurs. May 4\, 2023\, 6-8pm with a reception for the artist at Georges Berges Gallery\, 462 West Broadway\, New York. NY. \nFord Crull explores the expressive power of personal and cultural symbols in a series of densely painted and vividly colored compositions. The artist uses identifiable icons such as hearts\, wings\, crosses\, and the human figure\, as well as geometrical emblems and abstract forms whose meanings are less explicit. Words\, in the form of cryptic\, fleeting phrases\, animate Crull’s pictorial world. There is a strong element of the diaristic in Crull’s work\, allowing each painting to serve as a painterly journal of reflections and reveries set loose from their origins in specific events. In a wider sense\, these paintings constitute an intensive search to wrest meaning from an anarchy of feeling. As meditations on emotional chaos\, Ford Crull’s paintings enter into a world of competing impulses and simultaneous transmissions\, seeking a resolution that is both cathartic and mysterious. \nFord Crull | Lost Horizons is on view from May 4 through May 25\, 2023. Media coverage has included Art in America\, Artes Magazine\, Arts Magazine\, Huffington Post\, New York Daily News\, NY Art Beat\, d’Art International Magazine and The Philadelphia Enquirer. Weinstein is the Co-chair of the friends of AIM Program of The Bronx Museum of Arts and the Co-founder of Art in General. \nSelected solo exhibitions include Wichita Art Museum  (KS); Hilstrum Museum of Art\, (MN); MacNider Art Museum\, (Mason City\, IA); Visual Arts Center\, (Sioux Falls\, SD); the Fernbank Museum of Natural History\,(Atlanta GA); The Parthenon Museum\, (TN); Chicago Academy of Sciences (IL)\, the New York Hall of Science (NY\, NY) and most recently\, at Castello Spaces in Venice\, Italy. SUMMARY:PRISCILLA HEINE: Buoyant Abandon
DESCRIPTION:Priscilla Heine: Buoyant Abandon opens Saturday February 11\, 2023 at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester\, Vermont and runs through Sunday May 7\, 2023. \nBending the corners of space with vibrant pigments and tumultuous brushwork\, Priscilla Heine defines the world of memories and shifting dimensions. The power of the whole becomes apparent in the same way that the melody of a single flower embodies the fulsome magic of a botanical orchestra. The sense of blossoming is palpable in Heine’s work and this gradual unspiraling of peace and pleasure evokes a comforting embrace\, a warm meal\, and at times\, an excitement for what is found and a tranquil acceptance for what is gone. \nMore about the artist: www.priscillaheine.com
