SUMMARY:KB Jones\, "The Land and the Fog"
DESCRIPTION:Rachel Uffner Gallery is proud to present The Land and the Fog\, an exhibition of new paintings by Brooklyn-based painter\, KB Jones. This is the artist’s first exhibition with the gallery. \n“My most consistent subject in this show is garbage: garbage bins\, bags\, and recycling. But the show is quite varied\, and I also include a portrait\, several domestic scenes\, and a giant tapestry-style painting depicting waves of water.”\n– KB Jones \nJones uses both oil and industrial paints – oil for intimate portraits and clearance house paint for more flat\, composite landscapes\, setting up a dichotomy of intimacy and distance\, with both kinds of measurement offering a visual comfort. Her subjects are varied\, from a bedroom portrait of a woman\, head turned\, to a series of refuse\, from garbage bags to large bins to a candid shot of recyclable bottles. There is both a closeness and distance in the latter subject\, a mystery in presentation that plays in light and shadow\, intimacy and repulsion within the quotidian expense of everyday living. \nOpening Reception: Thursday\, September 14\, 6-8 pm \nView full press release here. \n\nImage: KB Jones\, Kitchen\, 2023\, recycled house paint on canvas\, 42 x 36 in
