Gallery Talk: Ralston Crawford and the Industrial Landscape

February 26 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

Join curatorial fellow Madeline Murphy Turner, the Emily Rauh Pulitzer Curatorial Fellow in Contemporary Drawing, for a discussion on Ralston Crawford’s drawing Maitland Bridge (1938) and his related sketchbook. Both reveal the artist’s fascination with landscapes of industrial architecture. We will also delve into Crawford’s artistic practice as it relates to works by other artists in the galleries, contextualizing his work within mid-20th-century international art, culture, and politics.

This gallery talk is part of our New on View series, highlighting recent gallery installations and presenting new insights into recent acquisitions or old favorites.

Please check in with museum staff at the Visitor Services desk in the Calderwood Courtyard to request to join the gallery talk. Talks are limited to 18 people and are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no registration is required.
