November 24, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Get ready to kick off the holiday season in style with our Made in RVA Holiday Shop on Black Friday, November 24th. We’ve got an amazing selection of art, handmade gifts, and products made right here in Virginia. Whether you’re looking for something special for yourself or a loved one, you won’t want to miss this event. And don’t forget to stop by for some delicious apple cider and cookies!

But that’s not all – once the sun goes down, the party really heats up with our 4th Friday new exhibits’ reception. Meet the amazing artists behind our latest exhibits, including Brielle DuFlon, Shelia Holland, and The Wonder Years group show. And be sure to check out the annual Small Works exhibit, too! With live music, refreshments, and libations sponsored by RVA Thriving Artists, this is one party you won’t want to miss.

Best of all, this event is completely free and open to the public! So, bring your friends, bring your family, and come celebrate with us all season long. Convenient parking is provided, so there’s no excuse not to join in the fun. We’ll see you there!

Recent and Collected Works by Brielle DuFlon

Brielle DuFlon a texture artist, weaver, natural dyer, and creates gardens for thought and meditation. These spaces are intended to create presence for the audience and to inspire wonder, curiosity and joy through texture, depth, and movement. Brielle spent the first 18 years of her life in Antigua, Guatemala, and identifies as a Third Culture Kid. After moving from Guatemala to Charlottesville, VA to attend UVA, she graduated in 2010 and settled in Charlottesville. She has shown work in the United States and Guatemala, with her work finding its way into people’s homes in the U.S, Central America, Europe, and Australia. You can find her textile business / storytelling platform at www.santamente.com. This exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.

Dead of Winter by Sheila Holland

Sheila Holland loves the quiet stillness of a brisk cold winter morning or evening—especially after snow has fallen and hushed everything in a magical and peaceful way. Sheila has been painting for over 38 years and never tires of painting landscapes of all kinds—especially wild and untouched landscapes. These places let your mind escape if only for a moment. This exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery.

The Wonder Years

Do you remember your Wonder Years? That special time when you became aware of yourself and the world around you–both as separate and connected? We have asked artists to create art and literary content about those times. The artwork and literary content will focus on the decade in which the artist came-of-age (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s), a.k.a. the Wonder Years. This exhibit will be in the Port Gallery. Call for Entries is October 1st – November 13, 2023. Check our website for details: Call for Entries.

Small Works & Miniatures All Media Show

This exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes and is open to all artists and all mediums. The theme for this exhibit is Small Works and Miniatures—art from 5 inches (small) to 3 inches (miniature). These tiny masterpieces make great holiday gifts. Call for entries is October 1, 2023 – November 13, 2023. Submit your entries through our online form.
