Art Study Center Seminar: Political Art in Latin America and Beyond
April 5 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeJoin curatorial fellow Madeline Murphy Turner for a dynamic exploration of political art from Latin America and beyond since the 1960s, including works by artists from Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and the United States. Turner will focus on such topics as reframing historical narrative, the photographic portrait, abstraction, and public intervention. We will also consider the various techniques and strategies artists use to engage political sensibilities, as well as the diverse definitions of political art and its possibilities in times of crisis.
