Art Study Center Seminar: The Earliest Coins

May 17, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Join curator Laure Marest to explore some of the earliest coins ever made (7th–6th century BCE) in this hands-on session. Learn about what led to the invention of this enduring technology, and about the cities and kings who revolutionized methods of payment. Your questions and feedback will help us revamp the displays and interpretation of the museums’ coin collection.

Led by:
Laure Marest, Damarete Associate Curator of Ancient Coins, Division of Asian and Mediterranean Art

Free admission, but registration is required. You can register by clicking on the event on this form, beginning on Tuesday, May 7.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the program to allow sufficient time to sign in at the Art Study Center reception desk (Level 4), and be prepared to present a photo ID. All coats and bags must be placed in a locker prior to entering the study room. Children age 14 and older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
