Chromatophores

September 28, 2020 @ 8:00 am - October 24, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Free

School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Chromatophores,” a juried exhibition of multidisciplinary works by SVA students and recent alumni. Organized by SVA Galleries, the exhibition will be on view at galleries.sva.edu from Monday, September 28, through Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Chromatophores are cells that contain a variety of pigments. They can be found in animals such as amphibians, fish and reptiles, giving them their unique hues. In this exhibition, artists use their own set of “chromatophores,” traversing palettes, color temperatures and saturations. Similar to biological cells that contain and carry information throughout bodies, the works on view incorporate color to convey unique narratives and depictions of diverse identities, cultures and environments.

Artists featured in this exhibition are Bryan Fernández (BFA Fine Arts), Veronica Fernandez (BFA Fine Arts), Daisy Kong (BFA Illustration), Linda Loh (MFA Computer Arts), Marcelina Pater (MFA Fine Arts), Cyle Warner (BFA Photography and Video), G Yang (BFA Illustration) and Angel Yu (BFA Illustration).
