Digital Event: “Una visione globale”: Arte Povera’s Worlds Lecture Series

March 20, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Lecture 1: Victoria Surliuga on Ezio Gribaudo
Saturday, March 21, 2020, 3:00 p.m.
Part one of “Una visione globale”: Arte Povera’s Worlds Lecture Series

In this current climate, the health and well being of our community – both local and global – is at the forefront of our minds. At Magazzino, we believe that art is essential for fostering meaningful connections, to each other and to the greater world, especially in these challenging times. With this spirit in mind, we will host our annual lecture series, curated by our current Scholar-in-Residence, Tenley Bick, titled “Una visione globale”: Arte Povera’s Worlds online.

A global vision, our theme for the 2020 lecture series, takes on a new significance during this time where concepts of globalization are more at stake than ever. Through this four-part series, scholars will explore how artists have built communities through creative work across national borders from the postwar period to present day.

This lecture series will be streamed live on Instagram, beginning with Victoria Surliuga’s exploration of the life and work of Turin-based artist and publisher Ezio Gribaudo and his efforts to turn Arte Povera into an artistic trend with a global impact. Bick will introduce and contextualize each scholar’s research and will host a follow-up discussion. This format allows for viewer participation and we encourage those watching to ask questions by commenting on Instagram Live.

Additional details on how to access the lecture follow below:

The lecture will be streamed on Saturday, March 21 on IGTV, commencing with a live introduction on Instagram at 3:00 p.m. by Magazzino Italian Art Director Vittorio Calabrese and Tenley Bick.

The lecture will be available for viewing at 3:15 p.m. and can be accessed by going on our Instagram profile. The video will also be accessible from our website and a link directing you to it will be posted on Saturday.

At 4:00 p.m. there will be a live streaming of a Q&A led by Victoria Surliuga, moderated by Tenley Bick.

We encourage those joining us during the Instagram Live Q&A to ask questions.
