Gallery Talk: Wolf Vostell’s Salad
April 13 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
FreeIn 1970, Wolf Vostell and numerous participants performed a “happening” (titled Salad) in a train car between Cologne and Aachen, Germany. Each of the 23 artworks that remained after the event comprises a crate with decomposed lettuce and a box containing extensive documentation. These objects remind us to remain vigilant to the attritional violence in our natural, social, and political environments.
This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Wolf Vostell: Dé-coll/age Is Your Life (January 20–May 5, 2024).
Led by:
Lynette Roth, Daimler Curator of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Division of Modern and Contemporary Art
