Gallery Talk: Wolf Vostell’s Salad

April 13 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

In 1970, Wolf Vostell and numerous participants performed a “happening” (titled Salad) in a train car between Cologne and Aachen, Germany. Each of the 23 artworks that remained after the event comprises a crate with decomposed lettuce and a box containing extensive documentation. These objects remind us to remain vigilant to the attritional violence in our natural, social, and political environments.

This talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Wolf Vostell: Dé-coll/age Is Your Life (January 20–May 5, 2024).

Led by:
Lynette Roth, Daimler Curator of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, Division of Modern and Contemporary Art

Gallery talks are limited to 18 people and registration is required. You can register by clicking on the event on this form, beginning at 10am the day of the talk.

Please meet in the Calderwood Courtyard, in front of the digital screens between the shop and the admissions desk.
