The Atlantic Gallery is pleased to present Hive Mind, an exhibition of works by the artists of the New England Wax organization (N.E.W.), from September 9th through September 27, 2025. An opening reception, with many of the artists in attendance, will be held at the gallery on Saturday, September 13th from 3-5 pm, with special evening hours on Thursday, September 11th, 6-8pm.
Curator Ingrid Dinter has selected art for this exhibition from the work of 27 N.E.W. artists that depict diverse ideas related to the colloquial phrase “hive mind”. Dinter, an art professional based in New York City, brings her experience as a former gallery owner, private dealer, independent curator, writer, and educator, to create an exhibit that draws inspiration from the behavior of social insects, particularly bees, who work together to achieve mutual goals through their cooperative communal spirit and unified sense of purpose. Hive Mind highlights the potential for synergy and innovation that emerges when individuals come together to work for a common purpose. The artists of New England Wax utilize their shared interest in beeswax, both hot and cold, as an artistic medium, to create thought-provoking and unique two and three-dimensional works within a broad collective context.
New England Wax is an active organization of artists from the six New England states whose shared goals are to provide opportunities to exhibit, to share technical information and aesthetic ideas, to promote excellence in fine art made with wax, to educate the general public about this medium, to increase interest in encaustic and cold wax in the art world, and to build community with other artists.
