Going Soft features a series of 11 new drawings by Loie Hollowell reflecting the artist’s lived physical experiences of sex, pregnancy, and postpartum motherhood.

These abstract works explore the physical and psychological experiences of pregnancy and giving birth through abstracted self-portraits that demonstrate a shift in Hollowell’s practice, revealing her psyche at the time of the work’s creation. The artist’s most recent drawings were created while in quarantine at the end of her second pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
