New Prints In Focus is a new initiative at IPCNY designed to highlight the ongoing work of our New Prints Artist Development Awardees. This third presentation of New Prints In Focus highlights work by the two Artists In Residence selected from Give Me Space: New Prints 2020/Summer— Mary Gordon McFall and Golbanou Moghaddas. Each artist completed a “Residency in Place” during the summer of 2020, working remotely in their home studios with support and funding provided by IPCNY.

Gordon McFall’s Playground Series uses layered monotypes and photo-lithography to explore the abstracted shapes of play structures and the ways in which the nostalgia of play can “anchor us to feelings of home and wellbeing even in the midst of chaos.” Moghaddas’s intimately-scaled etchings are inspired by Iranian poetry and bring characters and themes from those poems into her own life and surroundings.
