Free
Please join us for a panel discussion with Salina Almanzar ’13, Kevin Brady, Magnolia Laurie, and JunCheng Liu from the exhibition FRESH: F&M Art & Art History Department Biennial. This exhibition features new work by these and 12 other artists who work in a variety of media including drawing, painting, print, sculpture, photography, and site-specific installation. The museum will be open extended hours from 5:30-7 pm for this special event.
  • Almanzar is the Photography Technician at F&M and a 2013 alumna of the college. She was recently recognized for a local mural by the Americans for the Arts and her work explores intersections between Latinidad, feminism, decolonial practice, and Taino spirituality.
  • Brady, Senior Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art at F&M, started creating collages twenty years ago and currently prefers working with “experienced” paper that has outlived its original use. He studied painting and drawing at Kalamazoo College, the University of Michigan, as well as in Aix-en-Provence, France and today teaches courses in collage, drawing, and design.
  • Laurie is an Assistant Professor of Art at F&M, whose work explores ideas of landscape, vantage point, the human instinct to build, and our complex relationship to land. She has been part of solo and group exhibitions at frosch & portmann in NY, Hamiltonian Gallery in DC, MONO Practice in MD, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
  • Liu, Professor of Art, is passionate about nonrepresentational and conceptual art and teaches drawing and painting courses at the college. In his current series of work, he uses laminated thin maple wood strips to reinterpret several ancient Chinese characters.
