Artspace announces ThinkSmall11, miniature invitational

Richmond, VA, September 29, 2021 – Artspace is excited to announce our inaugural exhibition in our new gallery space in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center, featuring the 11th installment of the ever-popular Biennial Miniature International Invitational, ThinkSmall11. 

About the show: ThinkSmall has been a Richmond favorite for both artists and patrons since its inception in 2001. The invitational takes place every two years and features artwork in a diverse range of styles and media, all available for sale. Hundreds of artists eagerly take the challenge to create work that fits within the 3x3x3 inch maximum dimensions. Many of the participating artists are local to the Richmond area, but work is submitted from throughout the region, across the United States and even Internationally. Each year the gallery posts an online catalog of the artists with images of their work. This year’s catalog, along with links to our previous installments of the exhibition, is available on the ThinkSmall11 web page at: www.artspacegallery.org/ts11

ThinkSmall11 opens on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 6-9 pm. The Opening Reception is Free and Open to the Public. An Early Bird Gets the Art Event will take place on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 6-9 pm. Patrons who attend the Early Bird Event will have first dibs on artwork purchases  before the public opening on Friday the 22nd. Hundreds of miniature pieces of artwork will be offered for sale with prices ranging from $50 to $250 – perfect for holiday giving.
General Admission Tickets for the Early Bird event are $20. Tickets include a complimentary drink ticket. Both the Opening and Early Bird events feature music, refreshments and a cash bar. Social distancing and the use of masks will be required during these events. 

ThinkSmall11 will be on view and Open to the Public from Saturday, October 23 through Sunday, December 12, 2021. Gallery hours: Mon., Tues., Wed., 10am-5pm. Thurs., Fri., Sat., 11am-7pm, Sunday 11am-3pm. Closed Thursday, November 25-Sunday, November 28.

Artspace is a non-profit art gallery dedicated to the understanding and awareness of contemporary visual and performing arts. Founded in 1988, Artspace will be open to the public at its new address at 2833-A Hathaway Rd. Richmond, VA 23225, in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center through December 12, 2021. Following the end of TS11, we will close for the holidays and renovations will be made to the space.
