Pictures at an Exhibition: The Perception of Color in the Museum Environment
December 1, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Although there is no single correct way to perform a musical score, there are many ways to diminish the quality of the experience. Similarly, the conditions of an exhibition influence our experience of the works of art on display. Join Steven Weintraub of Art Preservation Services in New York for a discussion of the factors that affect the appearance of colors in visual art. Weintraub specializes in the preservation of museum collections and researches color perception and illumination. Weintraub is a visiting conservator at the Spencer Museum as part of the Collaborative Conservation Initiative funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
